Life After Living edition by Max Vos AJ Corza Literature Fiction eBooks

Two men each trying to cope with PTSD.
Vance Spence is suffering from yet another loss. The episodes are becoming more and more frequent. Only time will tell if he will be able to cope with yet another person leaving him.
Wade Farmer recently returned from Afghanistan only to have his family disown him for loving another man. He also is suffering from loss.
When the two are put together, neither are comfortable with the situation, but agree to give it a try. Two different lives. Two different men. Two different experiences, but common ground gives each of them understanding. Are they strong enough to battle their own demons as well as the others? Only time will tell.

As I have stated before, Max Vos is not a 'cookie-cutter' author, I never know what I am going to discover when I begin one of his stories. True to form, Life After Living was very different from previous Max Vos works I have read. This is an absolutely amazing book! I was hooked from the first page and if it were not for pesky things like driving, family and sleeping, I would have finished it in one evening. The amount of research that went into writing this book was very evident. I came away with a better understanding of PTSD, I won't pretend to claim a thorough understanding, but I know much more than I did when I began the book. This is the story of two men who have experienced some devastating events in their lives, both past and present, trying to navigate their way to making peace with their pasts and building productive, satisfying lives.
I'm going to be truthful here, parts of this were unbelievably hard to read, my mantra became, 'know where your tissues are at all times'. Don't get me wrong, there were many lighthearted and funny moments, but there were also Sisyphus-like moments where I despaired of that rock ever making it over the mountain. The unique understanding the two men had of each other and with the devotion and support some true friends, they create a HEA that worked for them and hopefully, others as well.
Beyond a couple of typos, the only issue I had with the story was that the names of the main characters were difficult to manage at first. I read very fast and similarity of having one name beginning with a 'V' and the other with a 'W', it took me almost a third of the book before I could stop referring to them as 'four-character name' & 'five-character' name. Yes, I know, sounds like a personal problem.
I highly, highly recommend this book, it is purely and simply a great story! Though if you are looking for Max Vos' normal high-intensity romance and over-the-top sex, you will find it considerably toned down. At times shocking and heartbreaking, the story will grab your heart and take you on an emotional roller coaster ride from the beginning right through the epilogue, loved it!

Life After Living edition by Max Vos AJ Corza Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
This is different than the last few Max Vos books. He's always consistently good, but this goes above and beyond. I love how slow and beautiful their relationship blossomed. There is so much understanding between the two men. They have both been to h*ll and back and come out the other side. There is only one or two love scenes, much later in the book, which is also pretty rare for Mr. Vos, but they were exactly where and when they needed to be. Hope we get to revisit Wade and Vance and get some more Vet healing stories.
Just finished Life After Living and it was amazing. Vance and Wade found that illusive thing called love at first sight. They kinda pulled together because of thier pain. Became friends and fell in love. This was one of those ugly cry books in several places. The kind you have to stop and clean your glasses so you can see to read on. Then there was Janice, you'll have to read the book to see for yourself how outrageous she is. I recommend this to everyone.
I was honored to Beta read Max's latest book. This book touched me in so many ways. The character development was excellent. You get a deep understanding of these two men while you watch their relationship grow from uncomfortable, comfortable, comforting, and then to loving each other on all levels.
Both MC's, Vance and Wade, discover they both suffer from PTSD and this commonality draws them together. Their beginning is somewhat bumpy as they are thrust into each other's lives rather unexpectedly. They both know that those of us who don't suffer from PTSD can't quite understand what sufferer's go through. As the two men recognize the symptoms, triggers, and coping mechanisms in each other; they are brought together, growing closer to one another, ultimately becoming each other's anchor. They learn to trust and lean on each other becoming close friends and finally lovers.
Max's writing flows beautifully and the pages turn so fast you can't quite believe how fast you are reading. This is a deep and thoughtful book and it will touch your heart and soul.
Vance just lost his husband unexpectedly. An event from his childhood and the guilt he feels over his sisters death have caused him to have PTSD. Unable to really mourn the loss of his husband has him shut down. Forcing himself to take care of his nursery gets him through each day.
Wade an ex soldier, also suffering PTSD, gets placed to work at the nursery by a veterans organization. He saw the man he loved murdered, and is still reeling from it.
Not sure of each other they manage to work out their issues. Both men prefer to be naked, which was odd to me. I felt it took away from the story at times.
Their bonding over planting and building an outdoor shower was slow, letting them build their trust over a period of time.
Taking care of the nursery and each other bonded their friendship together. I liked that there were no instant feelings. By the time the story got to the physical part of their relationship they knew each other's weaknesses and strengths. Satisfying read I would recommend to anyone interested in a realistic story of two men learning to trust and love again.
Wow - where do I begin?
I am a lover of slow burns - and this story was one of the best I've read. The characters of Vance and Wade had me by heart from the word go. To suffer from PTSD - I can't imagine what that is like, but the author conveyed what they were going through so well I now feel I have a far better understanding of it.
Vance may have needed a man to help around the business, but Wade gave him so much more - a soft place to fall and someone who understands where he is coming from. I really enjoyed how Wade help bring Vance back from such a dark place, and in turn, how Vance did the same for him.
Emotional roller coaster ride - and I loved every moment of it. And Janice was the perfect character to put with these two men - caring, honest, and with her heart in the right place.
Wonderful story.
